3 points for a win... More food for thought...
One could be forgiven for thinking that there are two many draws in GM tournaments. Fischer even once complained that the "Russians" were giving each other easy draws to disadvantage him.
Question: Why don't they give 3 points for a win (rather than 2) ? It would provide more incentive for attacking play and reward players for taking risks. The idea was adopted about ten years ago in world football (soccer) and has produced much more exciting play. What does everyone think ?

When I was a TD.... I ran tourney's that were 5 rounds. Scoring went like this. First round a draw was worth .5 second round .4 third round .3 fourth .2 fifth .1. This is legal in USCF tourneys. It made for some fighting finishes in the later rounds. No 5 move draws!!

and some cheats. it is better resign game to my teammate then receive 0.1 point.

Chess arent soccer. Chess are theoretical draw, so current system is fair

lukulus Chess is not a team sport. Does it make more sense to have first place up for grabs and the game go 1.e4 e5 draw? While any system can be beat, I found that mine worked to get the final rounds to be chess, not a drawfest.

Soccer is also a theoretical draw, and much more boring. :)
