27 ( +1 | -1 ) Hiarcs chess engineDoes anyone know how Hiarcs compares with other chess engines? For individuals who are involved in the area of visual disability, it reads the moves aloud - but whether it does other things such as reading the whole board aloud etc I do not know.
19 ( +1 | -1 ) Hiarcs10 is the fourth strongest chess program in the world and has an ELO Rating of 2766 so should be ample strong enough for your purposes. It also has the merit of playing in a very humanlike way.

Although Alice did question Hiarcs' relative strength, it sounded to me like her main concern is regarding its abilities to sound aloud board positions for visually challenged individuals.
Alice .... I just wanted you to know that I understood your question, but do not have the info you seek.

I was amazed to see that there were so many chess engines. Thanks for the posting on them and jumbo for the acknowledgement of the second part of the question. I looked at a Rybka review and the installation seems a bit difficult. Hiarcs seems to be more user friendly
